What carries over from the demo?
The Another Eden Begins demo covers the first six main-story chapters. Its story progress and character stats can transfer to the full game, but the method depends on your platform: Switch uses an import prompt, while Windows and Steam Deck require manual file handling. These are the procedures published in the official demo and save-transfer instructions.
Use the download links on that official page to reach the Nintendo and Steam versions. A demo save and a full-game save are separate files; seeing Steam Cloud enabled does not mean the demo has already been imported.
| Where you played | Transfer method | Important condition |
|---|---|---|
| Nintendo Switch | Confirm the prompt when starting the full game | The full game must have no existing save data. |
| Switch demo into Switch 2 Edition | Supported by the official instructions | Follow the console import procedure; this is not a PC-to-console transfer. |
| Windows through Steam | Copy and rename the demo save folder | Disable the full game's Steam Cloud synchronization first. |
| Steam Deck | Copy between the demo and full game's compatibility folders | Use Desktop Mode and temporarily disable Steam Cloud. |
Only perform the import once the full game can be launched on your system. The official carryover description names story progress and character stats; it does not provide an exhaustive guarantee for every setting or inventory field.
Before replacing any save files
Make separate backup copies of both the demo save and any existing full-game save before changing anything. Keep those backups outside the folders the game reads, and label them so you can distinguish the two. Copy the demo files rather than moving your only copy.
Close the game before handling its folders. If you already have full-game progress you want to preserve, do not overwrite it just to see whether an import works. These instructions import a demo save; they do not merge two different playthroughs.
The backup advice here is a precaution for file replacement. The platform-specific locations and import sequence below come from the official instructions, not a claim of testing on your device.
Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 Edition
The official Switch procedure is the shortest:
- Launch the full game with no existing full-game save data.
- Accept the prompt to transfer your demo save.
- Let the transfer finish without interrupting it.
- Check that your story position and character stats match the demo progress you expected.
The publisher explicitly says a Switch demo save can also transfer into Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. This does not establish save sharing between Nintendo and Steam.
If the prompt does not appear, first check whether the full game already has a save. That conflicts with the stated import condition. Do not delete valuable console progress just to force the prompt: the demo instructions do not provide a merge or recovery procedure for that situation. Keep the existing save and consult the publisher's support options before proceeding.
Windows: copy the demo folder into the full game
In Steam, open Another Eden Begins → Properties → General and disable the option to keep its saves in Steam Cloud. Do this before replacing the save folder.
The official Windows locations are:
| Purpose | Folder |
|---|---|
| Demo save to copy | C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\LocalLow\WRIGHT FLYER STUDIOS\AnotherEdenBeginsDemo\SaveDataDemo |
| Full-game destination | C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\LocalLow\WRIGHT FLYER STUDIOS\AnotherEdenBegins |
| Existing full-game save, if present | C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\LocalLow\WRIGHT FLYER STUDIOS\AnotherEdenBegins\SaveData |
Replace <Username> with your Windows account folder name. Then:
- Back up
SaveDataDemoand any existing full-gameSaveDatafolder. - If
SaveDataalready exists inside the full-game directory, remove that working copy only after checking its backup. The official process replaces it; it does not combine its contents with the demo. - Copy
SaveDataDemofrom the demo directory intoAnotherEdenBegins. - Rename the copied folder from
SaveDataDemotoSaveData. - Launch the full game and check the imported story progress and character stats.
- Re-enable Steam Cloud as needed after confirming that the transfer succeeded.
The final folder should be AnotherEdenBegins\SaveData, not an extra SaveDataDemo folder nested inside it. Keep your backups until you are satisfied the correct playthrough has loaded.
Steam Deck: use the correct compatibility folders
The publisher's Steam Deck instructions use two different app IDs: 4391790 for the demo and 4163960 for the full game. Mixing those up can put valid files where the full game will not read them.
- Press STEAM → Settings → Cloud and turn off Steam Cloud.
- Open Power → Switch to Desktop.
- Open the file manager, normally Dolphin. Enable Show Hidden Files if needed, then open
Home/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata. - Find and back up the demo folder under
4391790/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/LocalLow/WRIGHT FLYER STUDIOS/AnotherEdenBeginsDemo/SaveDataDemo. - Open the full-game location under
4163960/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/LocalLow/WRIGHT FLYER STUDIOS/AnotherEdenBegins. - If that destination already contains
SaveData, back it up separately before removing the working copy. - Copy the demo's
SaveDataDemointo the full-game location, then rename the copied folder toSaveData. - Return to Gaming Mode, launch the full game, and verify the imported progress before enabling Steam Cloud again.
These paths reproduce the publisher's documented layout. If your installation does not contain the expected folders, stop and compare it with the official instructions instead of deleting similarly named folders elsewhere.
If the full game starts from the beginning
Check the location and folder name before repeating the process. On Windows, the destination is the full game's AnotherEdenBegins directory. On Deck, it is the 4163960 compatibility directory. In both cases the imported folder must be named SaveData.
Also check that you copied from the intended demo save and that you disabled Cloud before replacing the destination. If Steam presents a synchronization conflict, do not select a copy at random: preserve your backups and identify which save contains the progress you want.
To undo a manual replacement, close the game, keep Cloud disabled, and restore the backed-up full-game SaveData folder to its original location. Check it locally before resuming synchronization. If you did not preserve a backup, this guide cannot reconstruct overwritten progress; avoid further file changes while seeking support.
