Another Eden Begins is sold for Nintendo Switch and as a separate Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. If you already own the Switch version, Nintendo also lists an official Switch 2 Edition Upgrade Pack. It requires the base game and a Switch 2; it is not a second copy of the full game.
What the Upgrade Pack changes
Nintendo describes the Switch 2 Edition as offering enhanced graphics with 4K support and an improved frame rate of up to 60 FPS. “Up to” is the publisher's stated ceiling; performance can vary by scene and mode. The Nintendo product page does not provide a scene-by-scene performance test.
| Choice | What you need | Published feature |
|---|---|---|
| Switch game | Nintendo Switch or compatible Switch 2 play | Base game |
| Switch 2 Edition | Nintendo Switch 2 | Enhanced graphics with 4K support; up to 60 FPS |
| Upgrade Pack | Switch game plus Nintendo Switch 2 | Upgrades the owned Switch game to the Switch 2 Edition |
Nintendo lists the Switch download at 3.8 GB and the Switch 2 Edition at 11.1 GB. The Upgrade Pack's own store listing shows a small entitlement download; do not mistake that file size for the full Switch 2 game. Allow room for game data and future updates before starting the upgrade.
Buying the correct edition
If you do not own the game, compare the current prices of the Switch 2 Edition and the Switch game plus Upgrade Pack in your own Nintendo region. The price difference is not a fixed rule for the Upgrade Pack; regional pricing and promotions can change. If you already own the Switch edition, use the same Nintendo Account to check whether the Upgrade Pack is offered to you, and read its purchase requirements before paying.
The publisher lists the same central story, New Game+ and more than ten endings for the game. Nintendo's Upgrade Pack page describes graphics and frame-rate changes, not an additional story campaign or exclusive characters. For physical copies and regional language questions, consult the separate physical-edition guide and the exact listing for the copy you plan to buy.
Demo saves and DLC
Do not infer save-transfer steps from the Steam version: Steam and Nintendo use different storage and account systems. If you have a demo save, inspect the game's title-screen transfer option and Nintendo's current support information before deleting the demo or starting a new file. Nintendo lists DLC packs and a Season Pass separately; owning the Upgrade Pack does not itself grant character DLC.
Quick answers
Does the Upgrade Pack work without the Switch game?
No. Nintendo's listing says the base Another Eden Begins game is required.
Is 4K or 60 FPS guaranteed at all times?
No such guarantee appears in the listing. It advertises 4K support and an improved frame rate up to 60 FPS.
Does the upgrade add new story chapters?
The official Upgrade Pack listing describes presentation improvements, not new story content.
